Enjoy the holiday cottages in the province of Girona

The province of Girona, located in the north-east of Catalonia, consists of a set of eight counties, each with a special charm, which make them an ideal place for your getaway to a rural house and for a holiday that will certainly be unforgettable, since in this Catalan province, many activities can be found, for all ages.

In this province you can find many activities to do outdoors, such as hiking trails, where you can discover impressive mountains like Puigmal (2,913 m) located in Ripollès, or the highest peak in the whole province: Puigpedrós (2,915 m), which is located between the municipalities of Ger, Meranges and Porta Catalunya del Norte, but also very beautiful family routes to walk with the whole family, such as the Banyoles' lake, discovering the volcanoes of Garrotxa, the route of the little prince of l'Escala or enjoy all the wildlife you can see in the Aiguamolls (wetlands) of Emporordà, among many others.

What is the best beach area in the province of Girona?

The Costa Brava, a unique place

The province of Girona is fortunate to have one of the most beautiful natural wonders, the Costa Brava, an ideal place to spend your holidays and enjoy the best rural accommodations in the area. This coast, known all over the world , is one of the treasures of the province, which makes it very crowded at the height of summer. In it, you can also find routes such as the coastal footpaths. Ideally it is better to do it off season,  to avoid getting a sunstroke. If you decide to do it during the summer, don't forget to wet your head as you walk. Among the most notable beaches, you can find the area of Begur, Platja de Aro and Pals, which are in the southern part of Costa Brava, but if you want the “wildest” beaches, you cannot miss the area of Llançà, Port de la Selva or Cadaqués, the pearl of the Costa Brava

If you're a mountain lover, this is a route for you

El Ripollès, La Garrotxa and La Cerdanya

One of the strong points of the province is also the entire northern part of it, where the high peaks are: Ripollès, Cerdanya and Garrotxa. This area is made up of three counties, where you can enjoy everything from the well-known traditional biscuits, such as those of Ca l'Enric, to the ski slopes of La Molina and La Masella, or the volcanic area of La Garrotxa, or the Fageda d'en Jordà where you can also enjoy a visit to see where they make some of the best yogurts in the country. Right here, you will also find hiking trails, BTT, natural pools and many more experiences to enjoy.

What are the best cities to visit near holiday cottages in the province?

The city of Girona

Well, if you like cities and villages, there are also many places to visit, such as its capital, Girona, one of the most romantic capitals of Catalonia, where the narrow streets of the Old Town, or the bridges that cross the river Onyar will take you to know a unique city, with a population of approximately 100,000 inhabitants and with emblematic places like, el culo de la leona (the butt of the lioness), the Devesa, or the Cathedral or the church of Sant Fèlix, getting lost in its streets is a great option. You can consult our guided tour of Girona to find out more.

The medieval towns

Also within the province you can find the medieval towns of Girona, which are many, such as Peratallada with its film-like centre, Besalú, with its medieval bridge, Castelló d'Empúries, Castellfollit de la Roca, Peralada or Monells are some of them.

Girona's gastronomy

As for Girona's gastronomy, if it is already known all over the world thanks to the Roca brothers, it is a pleasure that in this province, it goes far beyond that surname. There are many quality restaurants with affordable prices, with traditional Catalan cuisine as a flag, even so, scattered throughout the province, there are all kinds of cuisine, from the most exotic, to the most sophisticated, such as restaurants in Girona with a Michelin star, or more affordable restaurants, but not less tasty, where you can have a good menu for less than 15 euros, and where you will also eat wonderfully well! Immerse into Girona's cuisine to discover the province of Girona in depth.

Charming house in the heart of a small village

We stayed in this lovely house over a long weekend and everything was perfect. The house is very pretty, in good condition and with all the useful amenities (very well equipped kitchen, sheets, towels...). The exteriors are beautiful and very relaxing. Both parents and children enjoyed it, we will surely come back! Little extra: the proximity to the border is really convenient.

Everything perfect. The house very clean

To say something, a capsule coffee maker would be missing, since filter ones do not make coffee as good. The exterior lights are a bit uncomfortable because they are a bit low and you hit your head and aesthetically they are not very pleasing... but the rest, everything perfect and clean and the surroundings fabulous.

Naturaki respond: Thank you very much for your comment and for highlighting the cleanliness of the house and the surroundings. We are very pleased to know that you enjoyed your stay. As for the coffee maker, we used to have capsule coffee makers, but we found that, unfortunately, with frequent misuse, the needle would break down very quickly and we had to constantly replace the machines. That's why we opted for filter coffee makers, even though we understand that everyone has their own preferences. In fact, there are customers who prefer to bring their own capsule coffee maker. Thank you for the visit!

Investment has been made in the photographer

As the title already suggests, the photos are better than reality. We missed general lighting in the house (there were lights in the dining room that didn't work) and general cleaning and maintenance as well (dirty skylight windows, dirty recycling garbage bags, tablecloth with holes, broken kitchen cabinet door, chairs with some stains...). The treatment with the house owner was a bit dry and everything had to be managed with Naturaki, who never answered an email. I also do not recommend unloading the car in front of the house, the streets are narrow.

Naturaki respond: Thank you for sharing your opinion. We take note of all comments related to the maintenance and cleaning of the house to be able to review them. Our goal is to keep the houses in the best possible condition and these comments help us to detect aspects to improve. Regarding communication, we have reviewed the emails and we only have a record of a single email from you, which was replied to. We have not received any other message. In any case, we would like to emphasize that we respond to all the emails we receive, trying to reply as soon as possible. Thank you for your stay.

Great stay in a beautiful setting

Very pleasant weekend stay in a very beautiful and quiet environment. The house is very large and with all the comforts. Beautiful garden and porch. Although we have been very well and the house is spectacular, it would need a bit of maintenance.

Naturaki respond: Thank you, Rosa, for sharing your positive experience. We are glad to know you enjoyed the surroundings and the amenities of the house. We take note of your comment about maintenance and will review it to ensure everything is in the best condition.
