Pals and its surroundings, ideal for a rural getaway
Documents have been found that talk about Pals as far back as the end of the 9th century. The village itself is clearly Romanesque, but in the explosive Gothic period, during the 15th century, Pals underwent several remodelings in that style. During the Civil War, Pals was badly destroyed, and what we see today is a reconstruction that took about thirty years in total.
The vegetation is a very unique aspect in the municipality of Pals. The forest is clearly dominated by the pine and Aleppo pine groves that stretch across the Begur Massif. The vegetation around the beach dunes, one of the most important psammophilous vegetation in Catalonia, is also remarkable.

If you are in the center of Pals, visit the Church of Sant Pere. In 15th century Gothic style, its baroque façade was created using the stones of the ruined 12th century castle. The church consists of a nave with a polygonal head. There is also a square bell tower, with semicircular arches.
