Although the municipal term of Vilaür was delimited for the first time at the beginning of the 19th century, we place the origin of the town center in the Middle Ages, between the 10th and 11th centuries. Vilaür is mentioned for the first time in the 11th century, when it belonged to the monastery of Sant Esteve de Banyoles.

In addition, in the center of the old town we find the parish church of Sant Esteve, a fortified Romanesque building from the 12th and 13th centuries, which is also worth seeing. Outside the grounds, you cannot miss some historic farmhouses, such as Can Puig, from 1789 and Can Pou, from the 16th and 17th centuries.
