There's nothing better than enjoying a good sunset with good company. Sunsets are a magical moment, a spectacle that allows us to discover nature, relax, and take amazing photos. Catalonia is full of places where you can witness spectacular sunsets, and Naturaki invites you to discover the best places to see (and enjoy) sunsets in Catalonia.
Banyoles' Lake (Pla de l'Estany)

L'Estany de Banyoles is the largest natural lake in Catalonia. A visual spectacle that one must visit at least once in a lifetime. If it is worth seeing at any time of the day, at sunset the views are staggering. Take the opportunity to stroll around the Lake and grab a drink at one of the best chiringuitos on the Costa Brava. Don't forget your camera. You'll need it!
Trabucador Beach (Ebro Delta)

At Trabucador Beach, considered one of the best beaches in Tarragona, a sandy path forms between the two sides of the sea, revealing an idyllic space to enjoy a sunset. An oasis of tranquility and beauty stretching over six kilometers. You will be surrounded by the sea and, from the artificial wooden walkway, you can sit and take spectacular photos. If you go early, you'll find windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts or tourists walking and watching flamingos. You can also take advantage of the visit to the Ebro Delta to discover Punta del Fangar, at the northern end, one of the most unique natural spaces in Catalonia. A red and white lighthouse surrounded by extensive sand dunes that is always a hit on Instagram.
Guingueta d'Ix viewpoint (La Cerdanya)

Our next stop is one of the best viewpoints in La Cerdanya where you will have stunning 360° views of the Cerdanya plateau and all its peaks, from Carlit, Puigmal, Tossa d'Alp to Cadí. It's a viewpoint that can be visited any time of the year, from which you will enjoy an ideal sunset, but it's worth visiting in summer and seeing the fields yellowed by dry wheat.
Sant Sebastià Lighthouse (Baix Empordà)

Amid the monumental complex of Sant Sebastià de la Guarda, declared a cultural asset of national interest, you'll find the Sant Sebastià Lighthouse, one of the most popular places in Palafrugell. It's the ideal place for a successful first date: from the lookout, you'll be able to contemplate the entire coastline of central Costa Brava and the mountainous silhouettes that surround it. And as you can imagine, the sunset views are breathtaking. And if, for some reason that we don't quite understand, you haven't yet succeeded with the lighthouse, go to the watchtower, a 15th-century construction. From the top, you'll enjoy the absolutely stunning panoramic views of the Empordà.
Siurana (Priorat)

Siurana is one of those places in the province of Tarragona that one must visit at least once in a lifetime. A small village of less than fifty inhabitants perched atop a limestone cliff. The views from the Romanesque church of Santa Maria are jaw-dropping: The Montsant mountain range, Gritella, and the Prades Mountains. Now imagine going there as the sky begins to darken and enjoying the sunset. Simply stunning.
La Roca Foradada (Bages)

To enjoy this sunset you have two options: the first one is to hike from Can Maçana to the Roca Foradada (Pierced Rock), in the spires of Montserrat mountain. A rock with a triangular hole about 10 meters high. This is a relatively easy and accessible hike for the whole family. The views, as you can imagine, are wonderful. And enjoying a sunset from Montserrat is an amazing experience. The second option can only be enjoyed on specific days in February, and we highly recommend it. And that is to go to the village of Castellbell i el Vilar, from where you will have a privileged angle to enjoy one of the most unique natural phenomena in Catalonia: the sun's light passing through the middle of the hole in the Pierced Rock. If you don't want to miss it, better check the exact dates.
La Pertusa Hermitage (La Noguera)

Do you want to discover a small Romanesque jewel? And go on a route that will offer unforgettable landscapes? Our recommendation is to go to La Pertusa Hermitage, at the southern end of the Mont-rebei gorge, which is also well worth a visit. It is located on top of a cliff at 685 meters altitude and to get there you will have to follow a small rocky path with slopes. The reward, however, is worth it. Direct contact with nature, an extraordinary landscape, and, during sunset, you can watch the sun hide among the crevices. The views are so stunning that you'll even forget to take photos and post them on Instagram.
Gola de Ter (Baix Empordà)

We finish our tour of the best sunset spots in Catalonia in Baix Empordà, on the beach of Gola de Ter, in the heart of the Costa Brava. This is a unique place, as the waters of the Mediterranean Sea meet those of the Ter River, allowing you to step in both fresh and saltwater at the same time. If you go as it begins to get dark, you can watch the sunset over the river and the moonrise over the sea. And in the background, the Medes Islands. The experience is spectacular.
If you're willing to wake up early you'll get a great reward: you can enjoy another of the most spectacular moments nature offers, such as sunrises. Don't miss our article on the best sunrises and sunsets on the Costa Brava.
