The 10 best chiringuitos on the Costa Brava

If you love the sea and the beach, you will surely like and not want to miss the best “chiringuitos” of the Costa Brava, even if it's just to escape from the torrid summer sun while you‘re having a drink, eating a snack, or relaxing in the evening listening to the murmur of the waves while sipping a cocktail or even enjoying live music under the stars.

For those who are not sure what the “chiringuitos” are, they are small constructions, often seasonal and removable, close to the beach or directly on the sand.

At Naturaki we are authentic chiringuitos lovers and we want to share with you some of the best chiringuitos on the Costa Brava:

1. XiringuitoX – Rubina's beach (Empuriabrava)

One of our favourites, located in one of the few beaches that accept dogs in the Natural Park of Aiguamolls, with a pleasant atmosphere both day and night. Just lay down  on a lounge chair with a mojitoX and watch the sunset overlooking the sea. Its speciality is the barbecue and almost every summer night there is live music. On Tuesdays they offer you free grilled sardines with your drink!

2.  La Pelosa Restaurant – Cala Pelosa (Roses)

Their best dish is the paella. We recommend previous booking since it fills up quickly and the road is long and not in good conditions. A good way to get there is  by boat, the same restaurant brings you the meal to the boat or they pick up you from the boat and drive you to the restaurant. This small bay is one of our top 10 beaches of the Costa Brava.

3. Che – Sant Pere Pescador's beach (Sant Pere Pescador)

Its strong point is the live music and the location, surrounded by dunes and the Bay of Roses, in front of one of the 10 best beaches of the Costa Brava. Ideal for a cocktail while enjoying the sunset, surrounded by kitesurfers.

4. Marlin Beach Bar – Sant Pere Pescador's beach (Sant Pere Pescador)

An authentic chiringuito in between two campsites, with a friendly and fast service. They offer delicious tapas and burgers!

5. Ukelele Riuet – Riuet's beach (Sant Martí d'Empúries)

A charming place with a tropical atmosphere and decoration on the Riuet's beach in Sant Martí d'Empúries. The best are the natural juices, their mojitos and the healthy fusion cuisine. There is often live music.

6. Boia Nit – platja de Cadaqués (Cadaqués)

This place is the temple of cocktails, on the beach of the picturesque village of Cadaqués, in one of the 10 best beaches of the Costa Brava. We wouldn't know which cocktail to decide upon, since all of them are small artworks.

7. Xiringuito Cala Joncols – Cala Joncols (Cap de Creus)

It's a small paradise in the middle of Cap de Creus, belongs to the same hotel Cala Joncols. If you want to eat there, previous booking is mandatory, in order to avoid making the trip in vain. On Fridays and Saturdays of July and August there is usually live music.

8. Toc al Mar – Aiguablava's Beach (Begur)

If you want to eat fresh fish cooked with oak wood, this is your place. You will be literally on the sand of the beautiful Aiguablava beach. During July and August, booking is mandatory.

9. Cala Banys Cocktail Bar – Cala Banys (Lloret de Mar)

An ideal and quiet corner of the Costa Brava, far from the crowds of Lloret de Mar, to enjoy a good aperitif. The best time of the day is at sunset, a spectacle of nature.

10. Els Banys Vells – Lake Banyoles (Banyoles)

Although it's not on the beach, we consider it a chiringuito, because it's located on a pier on the lake of Banyoles. The scenery is fabulous and a part of drinking or having a snack, you can take a dip in the lake.

Please note that most of these places are only open in the summer, if you want to go out of season, it's best to contact before.
