DO Empordà wines have history. And it's that the Alt Empordà is an area where the wine culture and tradition goes back to the times of the Romans and nowadays this territory has been enriched thanks to the growing interest in wine tourism. We are in love with the wines in all its forms, and today we want to propose a route for 11 wineries of the Alt Empordà that we like so you can discover the wonders of this product and the surrounding landscapes. Wine tasting under the stars, pairings, yoga between vineyards, music festivals, theatrical visits, sleeping between vineyards, grapes, vinotherapy … Because wine tourism in the Alt Empordà goes much further!
1. La Vinyeta (Mollet de Peralada)
Two young people from a family of entrepreneurs began in Mollet de Peralada with 4 hectares of old vines, and nowadays La Vinyeta has become one of the most dynamic projects of the DO Empordà. They offer a very close deal and various activities such as picnics and yoga include vineyards or wine nights where you can dine under the stars in the middle of the vineyards with live music. 2. Masia Serra (Cantallops)
The Masia Serra winery elaborates what they call landscape wines in the DO Empordà along its 13 hectares of land. Fruit of a lot of effort, dedication and enthusiasm, they have made Masia Serra one of the most important wineries in the Empordà. Inside the winery, you can find a room crowned by some poetry talking about the goodness of wine and love for the land. They offer enogastronomic, enocultural, enonature and customized events. 3. Vins i Caves Peralada (Peralada)
Located in the village of Peralada, in the heart of the Alt Empordà, and with privileged geoclimatological conditions due to its proximity to the sea, the Peralada Winery is a classic of the classics of the area. The grapes obtained from these lands have a wide range of shades. The winery offers different options for wine visits and tasting. They are building a new winery that will enter into operation in 2019 and aims to be the first in Europe to have LEED® BD + C environmental and energy certification, which will demonstrate the sustainability and high efficiency of design and construction. 4. Celler Cooperatiu d'Espolla (Espolla)
Founded in 1931, it is one of the wine companies in the area with the longest tradition in the region. The maintenance of a traditional spirit when cultivating the vineyard and making wine, together with the progressive incorporation of the most advanced technological improvements, makes this winery a very special place. They offer various wine tourism proposals, such as Tramuntana breakfasts or theatrical visits. If you stay in our house Cal Ferrer del Castell, it's a visit that you can not miss.
5. Cellers d'en Guilla (Rabós d'Empordà)
It is a small artisan cellar where they only work with the typical varieties of Empordà and Garnacha experts. They have small productions and the harvest is made by hand. Among the experiences of wineries that they propose are The secrets of the Red Grenache, Wine and Romanesque in the Serra de l'Albera and The sweet wines of the Cellar. 6. Garriguella Agricultural Cooperative (Garriguella)
With more than 50 years of history, this cooperative is the union of small producers, viticultors of Garriguella, who give life to a new range of innovative wines with Empordà personality. They also have an agrostore where you can buy, apart from your oils and wines, other organic products and Km O. You will also be surprised by their gastronomic space and wine tourism proposals, such as the Wines & Bunkers, a pairing of nature and culture that will fascinate you. Near to our houses.
7. Espelt Vinicultors (Vilajuïga)
This family winery is equipped with modern facilities. The farms are located on or next to three natural parks: Albera to the west, Cap de Creus to the east and the plain that reaches the Aiguamolls to the south. From Mas, the view of the Empordà is spectacular. Once a year, celebrate the Old Grape Harvest Festival, where you can harvest the grapes with their hands, press them with their feet and taste the result accompanied by music and a good breakfast. It is also worthwhile to visit its winery in order to discover Espelt philosophy.
8. Empordàlia (Vilajuïga)
This cooperative of wine and oil, located in the middle of a rocky geography on 500 hectares of old and new olive trees, is born from the union of the old cooperative wineries of Pau, Roses and Vilajuïga. Three villages, many lands and an exclusive crop beyond their own terms. Apart from working the wine, you will also find the typical Olive Oil, extra virgin olive oil. It offers wine pairing with poetry and Enokayak, where you can enjoy the sea, kayaking and wine tourism in one activity. Very close to our houses.
9. Mas Llunes (Garriguella)
At the foot of the natural setting of L'Albera, in lands touched by the Tramuntana, there is this cellar with a centuries-old history that works with autochthonous varieties such as Carinyena or Garnatxa, which is exquisite. They offer, apart from the most traditional visits, a Sensorial Wine Tasting, where music, light and images are mixed with the colors, tastes and aromas of the wine. Near to our houses.
10. Mas Vida (Cistella)
A family winery where, after a few years of unemployment, mother and daughter take their income. Led by women, MasVida is a small paradise, an old rectory that once again has life! If you want to give away a good experience you can reserve one of its Feasts between vineyards, one of its workshops in the cellar or an Enokayak route that will take you along the River Fluvià or Cap de Creus. Next to the hermitage of the Mare de Déu de Vida, above Puig Corcoll and very close to our houses.
11. Celler Martí Faixó (Cadaqués)
In the middle of the Cap de Creus Natural Park on the Cadaqués road, in two lands bathed by two seas and touched by the Tramuntana, this winery is a project rooted since the grandparents' generation, focused on offering the visitors a unique experience of quality and excellence. Apart from the winery, Sa Perafita's farmhouse offers accommodation and restoration. In this winery you can taste wines with a lot of personality, among them the Cadac, the high-end wine of Martí Faixó.
