We invite you to discover the most spectacular and magical corners of the coastline of Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc and Tamariu, the three coastal towns of the municipality of Palafrugell, old fishing villages, that still conserve their essence and warmth with their narrow streets, the white façades by the seafront and fantastic views of the Mediterranean Sea.
In this post we suggest some of the most special places in this Mediterranean paradise located in the center of the Costa Brava:
The Cap Roig Gardens

The Botanical Garden of Cap Roig were created by the Woevodsky couple, he an architect and she a garden designer, in 1927. Its construction was completed in 1974, the year in which the castle was finished. The gardens are located on a cliff with about 20 hectares of land and are distributed in different terraces with exceptional views over the sea. You will be able to see more than 1000 species of plants from all the Mediterranean climate regions of the world. In the same gardens, during the months of July and August, the summer music festival Festival Jardins de Cap Roig is held, one of the best summer festivals on the Costa Brava.
The beaches and coves of Calella de Palafrugell

Continuing along the coastal path towards the north after leaving behind the gardens of Cap Roig, you will find Platja del Golfet, a small cove that can only be accessed on foot from the coastal path. Continuing north towards the center of Calella you can stop for an aperitif on the terrace of the Hotel Sant Roc, from where you can enjoy panoramic views of Calella de Palafrugell and the Mediterranean Sea that will make you fall in love.

After this break, you can continue to discover the small beaches and coves surrounded by old fishermen's houses such as Port Pelegrí, La Platgeta and Platja d'en Calau until you reach the best known and most photographed corner of Calella: Platja de Port Bo or Platja de les Barques. You will recognize it by the vaults of the buildings next to the sand and also because it is the location where "La Cantada d'Havaneres" is celebrated on the first Saturday of July. Bordering the sea, you will reach the largest beach in Calella, Platja El Canadell, 100 meters long and 30 meters wide.
The "camí de ronda" from Calella to Llafranc

The "camí de ronda" or coastal path starts right at the end of Platja El Canadell where you will see signs indicating the direction of Llafranc. The path skirts the coast and has different slopes and stairs, but it can be done without difficulty and with the whole family. You will enjoy spectacular views of the sea and the bay of Llafranc. In the center of Llafranc you will find the beach of about 350 meters in length and a promenade with a great gastronomic offer.
The views from Sant Sebastià Lighthouse

From Sant Sebastià Lighthouse, located on a cliff 187 meters above the sea, you will enjoy one of the best views of the Costa Brava. You can go all the way to the top by car or on foot by the stairs that start from the Llafranc marina itself. On top of the cliff you will find a Japanese restaurant, the restaurant and hotel El Far with incredible views, and the remains of an Iberian archaeological site from the 6th century BC.
Tamariu

Tamariu is the smallest coastal town in Palafrugell. It is characterized by whitewashed houses, narrow streets and a tranquility that you will find in few places on the Costa Brava. Tamariu still has a wild character, surrounded by nature and small coves that are difficult to access, some of which can only be reached by sea on a kayak, one of the best ways to enjoy the Costa Brava from the sea. Some of the best coves and beaches in Tamariu are Cala Pedrosa, Aiguadolça, Aigua Xelida and Cala Marquesa.
