Calella de Palafrugell, the ideal place for a rural getaway
Calella de Palafrugell, a port town, was, for many years, the port of entry and exit for products from the entire Palafrugell area and part of the Empordà. At the beginning of the 19th century, products such as wheat, flour, wine, beans and corks were exported.
However, with globalization and with the introduction of steam, and as the size of the ships increased by leaps and bounds, maritime transport was concentrated in other ports in the area, such as the port of Palamós and that of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. In 1860 Calella de Palafrugell had a movement of 727 tons of goods. Thirty-five years later, in 1894, the number dropped to 2.5 tons, and in 1912 only 0.3 entered. Today, Calella de Palafrugell has become what it is thanks to its historical charm, but it is still alive, in large part, thanks to tourism.
What to do during your holidays in our holiday rentals in Calella de Palafrugell?
A swim on the beach of Port Bo
Port Bo beach is probably the best known beach in Calella de Palafrugell. You will surely recognize it by its fishing boats on the sand and the fishermen's houses surrounded by the arch vaults.
Stroll along the old quarter
A visit to the church of Sant Pere is a very good option. Built between 1884 and 1887, the building stands out for its simplicity and its square tower.

Enjoy the viewpoint of Manel Juanola and Reixach
Going up to the viewpoint after a long day of sun and beach is another way of experiencing Calella de Palafrugell. It is a terrace located at the foot of a small cove that looks like a natural pool. In addition, the viewpoint has several benches to sit and rest.
Concerts in the Jardins de Cap Roig
In the summer season, Calella de Palafrugell is lucky enough to have a great festival: Cap Roig. However, during the rest of the year the gardens can also be visited: 3 kilometers of botanical gardens with their contrasting colors will leave you completely speechless!

The best-known walking path in the area is the one that goes from
Canadell beach to Llafranc, the next town. You really can't leave Calella without having done part of this path, as it is certainly one of the best things you can do on the Costa Brava.
