The Costa Brava offers us, on its coast, a thousand places to explore. Today, for lovers of the marine world, we discover 7 caves where you will feel like real pirates and fighters, as to access it can only be done from the sea. You will need a boat or a kayak. The good side about kayaking is that it will allow you to dive into many of its waters and even cross them and have a good workout. The best side of the boat is that you can spend the day there with the sway of the waves nearby.
1. Cova de s'Infern

Located under the lighthouse of Cap de Creus, one of the most emblematic lighthouses of the Costa Brava, the cave gets its name from the reddish color its waters acquire when the sun reflects on them. Between the two sides of the cave, the sea creates a natural pool of clear water perfect for a good dip.
2. La Foradada

Located between l'Escala and l'Estartit, on the coast of the Montgrí Natural Park, under the Cap Castell. This cave is tall enough that small boats can pass through it from side to side. From afar it seems that you should not get through, but if you get close you will be breathless when crossing it.
3. Cova d'en Gispert

This cave, located between Aiguablava and Aiguaxelida in Begur, is the longest on the Costa Brava and for some, the most spectacular. The most notorious anecdote told about this cave is that Salvador Dalí himself organized a private singing concert there in the 60s, as the acoustics were unbeatable. If you want, you can try to sing there when you enter to verify it!
4. Cova de la Sal

Located next to Cala Montgó, just before Punta del Milà. It is a cave very well known by the locals, as it is an ideal spot if you like snorkeling without any danger on calm tide days and one of the most common points in the area to go scuba diving.
5. Cova del Bisbe

Another small cave located in the Begur area, next to the Cova d'en Gispert, where you can venture inside as far as the back if you're not afraid of the dark. Many kayak routes in the area lead there, as it's an ideal way to discover it.
6. La Banyera de la Russa

Mrs. Woevodsky (who by the way was not Russian, but her husband was), often came down to this place to bathe naked in its salty waters. Located between Mont-ras and Calella de Palafrugell, currently you can only get there by sea, but it's worth taking off your clothes and paying a little tribute to Mrs. Woevodsky.
7. Cova del Pelegrí

This majestic cave is located underneath Puig de la Figuera in Cadaqués. With a maximum depth of 40 metres, it is greatly appreciated by divers fond of the waters in the area of Cap de Creus. Its bottom, meanwhile, presents us with little caves and holes amongst the rocks.
An ideal plan to feel the power of water and the connection to rocks eroded by its flow. These 7 caves and grottos of Costa Brava that we propose to visit from the sea, will be a perfect refuge to cool off on the hottest summer days.
