In the small town of Vilamaniscle, located at the foot of the Albera mountain range, very close to Llançà and the beaches of the Costa Brava, you can find very authentic holiday cottages and tourist accommodation ideal for enjoying the Albera area. At the foot of the Albera mountain range, between vineyards and pine forests, we find Vilamaniscle. A small town of just over 200 inhabitants known, above all, for being one of the wine producers in the DO Empordà. A village, therefore, ideal for hiking, mountain bike routes and wine tourism.
The history of Vilamaniscle and its surroundings
Although the existence of megalithic monuments proves a prehistoric human presence, there is no record of the existence of Vilamaniscle until the 11th century, when Pope Benedict VIII mentions the place known as 'Villare de Melandre', which was the possession of monastery of Sant Esteve de Banyoles. Later, in the 16th century, there is evidence of this territory again, which then belonged to the Vilarigs. The population of Vilamaniscle has traditionally been sparse.

Visit its megalithic monuments
If you are staying in a holiday cottage in Vilamaniscle, you cannot miss the megalithic monuments of the right stone or menhir of Mas Roqué and the Dofines dolmen. Two constructions that are estimated to date from approximately 3000 BC. However, it is also worth visiting the church of Sant Gil, a small building with a single nave from the 17th and 18th centuries, and the castle of Vilamaniscle, a large fortified castle located in the upper part of the town and which, despite which is not known exactly when it was built, has a baroque shield on the portal.
Hiking or mountain biking routes through the Albera mountain range
The small village of Vilamaniscle is located in the Serra de l'Albera, a natural area full of paths and routes ideal for hiking and mountain biking. You can also get close to the Suro Gros viewpoint, located in a recently rehabilitated area from which you can see the entire Albera and Salines mountain ranges, as well as the Canigó massif. Or, even, choose to do the section of the GR 11 that passes through the center of the town and goes to Port de la Selva.
Do a wine tasting at some of their wineries
Vilamaniscle is a wine producer within the DO Empordà, therefore, nothing better than ending one of the proposed routes with a wine tasting at some of its wineries and, in passing, taking the opportunity to enjoy the local gastronomy.

Very well located and very clean
House very well located, very clean. The bedding is really great. Despite the heat, the inside of the house remained cool. Pleasant exterior. We just need a little more dishes available but that's just a detail.

The house a 10. The only problem is the flies...
The house is wonderful. We have had a great stay and the facilities cannot be faulted. We have really enjoyed both the house and the garden and pool. But we have all agreed on the amount of flies that were in the house. The kitchen was plagued, but also the dining room and even the bedrooms. It was not logical, since there were so many. I imagine it must have been due to the fertilizer that they must have been using for the fields... or the cause cannot be determined. But the reality is that it is a pity that such a wonderful house is overshadowed by this issue. Otherwise I can only say positive things. And the owner is also a charm. If that issue could be resolved, this house would be unbeatable.

STAY AT MAS GARRIGUELLA DEL CAMP
We had a great time and enjoyed the area we didn't know on the occasion of our 50th wedding anniversary with the company of our children and grandchildren. We hope to be able to repeat the experience again.

MOTHER'S BIRTHDAY WITH THE ENTIRE FAMILY
The house is comfortable. But for me the photos are better than the reality. The rooms look bigger than they are. The pool area and the room are very good, but the rooms need a coat of paint and some mattresses need to be changed and the decoration improved. There are no cupboards in the kitchen to store food, glasses and spoons are missing. Joaquim (the owner of the house) is very endearing and makes everything easy for you. Her parents live upstairs in the house by the pool and it takes away your privacy.

Big and comfortable house with host always available to help
A big house with facilities to have fun. Especially in summer to enjoy the pool, games room and covered dining room. To access the upper floor is from an external staircase. Take it into account if there are small children. Joaquim (the owner) is charming and always willing to help with whatever is needed.
