Do you want to know Cap de Creus and the Albera mountain range? Would you like to spend the day on a wonderful beach on the Costa Brava or go snorkeling? Llança awaits you! A village in Alt Empordà, located between Portbou and Colera and near the border with France, which enjoys a wide range of tourist attractions.
Near where the town of Llançà stands today, was the ancient city of Deciana, founded in 218 BC. Centuries later, at the beginning of the 10th century, Llançà is mentioned for the first time under the name of Vall Lanciana or Vall Lanciani. In 1659, the date of the Peace of the Pyrenees, the French claimed Llança and wanted to place the border at Cap de Creus, but later it was agreed to pass it at Cap de Cervera. Towards the 18th and 19th centuries, the population lived mainly from the production of oil and wine, which they exported to France and Italy. It was not, however, until the 60s of the 20th century that tourism led to the dynamism and transformation of the municipality.
If you stay in a holiday cottage in Llançà, you cannot miss the more than seven kilometers of coastline and enjoy the wonderful beaches of the Costa Brava: from large beaches of fine sand, such as that of the Port, to small coves of stones and coarse sand like Platja de Bramant. The beaches of Llançà are also a fantastic place to snorkel. Especially at Punta del Cap Ras or Platja de Canyelles.
The surroundings of Llançà are ideal for walks, hiking, cycling and mountain biking. Both in the Albera massif and Cap de Creus, you will find many routes and itineraries in which you will discover the essence of the history of the Mediterranean. You can also choose to take the megalithic route and see the dolmen of Puig del Llop or the dolmen of Mas de la Mata, a cave-shaped multiple burial tomb.
