If you want to get to know the agricultural landscape of the Alt Empordà up close and discover an authentic rural village of the Empordà plain, you cannot miss Santa Llogaia d'Àlguema. An oasis of peace and tranquility located just over four kilometers from Figueres that does, however, have a couple of must-sees such as the church of Santa Llogaia, an 18th century temple that still retains some previous elements or the Font del Manol, an ideal place to enjoy a family picnic and take a few photographs.
Santa Llogaia d'Àlguema is mentioned for the first time in the 10th century, under the name of Uillari Algama. Although it is not until the twelfth century that the municipality is called Santae Leocadiae. Shortly after, the name of the Àlguema stream that passes by it was added. It is a town that was part of the Monastery of Ripoll and later, in 1421, it was completely destroyed by floods. As a curious date: Until well into the 20th century, many of its inhabitants were engaged in the making of reeds, caves and baskets of cane and wicker.

If you prefer to swim on the beach, Santa Llogaia is just over 15 kilometers from the quiet beaches of Sant Pere Pescador, such as La Gola or Can Sopa.
