Are you looking for affordable clothing? Do you want to buy fruits and vegetables directly from the farmer? Or perhaps you're looking for second-hand offers? Every week, the towns of Girona and the Costa Brava are filled with markets where you can find everything from food to household items. Let's take a look at the largest or most important weekly markets in Girona and the Costa Brava.
Devesa Market (Girona)

Did you know that in the Middle Ages, a weekly market was already held in Girona? Farm products were offered, and goods were exchanged. As a curiosity: its location, outside the walls, gave rise to the current Mercadal neighborhood. Centuries have passed, and Girona enjoys two major markets: the Lleó, held every day, and the Devesa. There are also markets for exchanges and collectors' items, such as the Lleona on Saturdays or Plaça Catalunya on Sundays. Today we want to tell you about Ribes del Ter, in the Devesa, which offers one of the most representative images of the traditional exchange of products and goods in the city. At the Ribes del Ter market. You will find everything there: fruits, vegetables, cold cuts, dried fruits, gift items, accessories, clothing, shoes, etc. It takes place on Tuesdays and Saturdays in the morning, from 9 am to 1:30 pm. Are you up for discovering the city of Girona?
Vintage Market (Corçà)

If you want to exchange, buy, give, or sell second-hand items, you cannot miss the Vintage Market in Corçà, one of the best-known and busiest in the Baix Empordà. It takes place every Saturday and Sunday, next to the C-66 road, on the way out of Corçà towards Palamós. You will find books, records, clothing, games, toys, and even kitchen utensils or rare and curious objects. If you are a lover of second-hand markets, this is definitely your place.
Palamós Market (Palamós)

Every Tuesday, since it was established in the Charter of King Pere the Great in 1279, the weekly market of Palamós takes place in the Baix Empordà. Avinguda Catalunya, one of the most popular in the town, is filled with over a hundred stalls selling food, clothing, household textiles, shoes, plants and flowers, gift items, toys, and handbags. You will even find a churro stand if you fancy a snack. A genuine meeting point worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. After visiting the market, we recommend taking a walk along the coastal path that will reveal some of the best beaches and coves of Palamós.
Platja d'Aro Market (Platja d'Aro)

Since the Middle Ages, markets have been a space of social articulation, a meeting point between buyers and sellers, and one of the few remaining places where we can establish direct contact with the producer. The one in Platja d'Aro, which takes place every Friday at the Municipal Car Park of Masia Bas, is a good example. You will find fruits, vegetables, legumes, salted fish, nuts, spices, cooked dishes, and even clothing, accessories, and hardware.
L'Encant de l'Empordà (Verges)

Every Sunday morning, starting at eight, a rather curious antiques market takes place in the parking lot of Verges. You will find antiques, emerging art, vintage objects, and second-hand items. But also French stalls with peculiar objects, vinyl records, vintage clothing, and even a themed stall of Tintin. You will always find what you are looking for!
Roses Market (Roses)

The one in Roses is a slightly different traveling market: it is divided into two sectors. The fruit and vegetable one is located in the square next to the covered market, while the clothing, bags, and accessories one is next to the Ciutadella. We particularly recommend the latter. It takes place every Sunday, from 9 am to 1 pm. So if you visit Roses, you already have a plan: take a stroll through the market, look for good bargains, and then visit the Ciutadella, one of the most representative fortresses of the Costa Brava, or take a dip at the beach. And if you feel like enjoying good food by the sea, you can go to the Ona Beach Bar, one of the terraces where you can enjoy live music during the summer.
Palafrugell Market (Palafrugell)

Palafrugell, in the Baix Empordà, has a rich commercial tradition and is well known for its markets. Today, we'll talk about the weekly market, which takes place on Sundays. However, if you visit the area during the summer, you cannot miss the craft market. The weekly market stretches along Carrer Pi i Margall and some neighboring streets, and besides food products, you will find clothing, fabrics, shoes, toys, music, and kitchen utensils. It is open from 8 am to 1:30 pm. Make the most of your visit to the market to discover Calella de Palafrugell, a Mediterranean paradise.
La Bisbal de l'Empordà Market (La Bisbal de l'Empordà)

On March 21st, 1322, King Jaume II granted the town of La Bisbal de l'Empordà the privilege of holding a weekly market. Since then, every Friday, the market of La Bisbal hosts more than a hundred stalls and has long been a tourist attraction. If, in the past, it was the main stage for agricultural and livestock transactions in the region, today we find many food stalls (fruits, vegetables, salted fish, cold cuts, dried fruits...), clothing, accessories, and household products. It is one of the oldest in the region and occupies much of the old town of La Bisbal. It is worth a visit. When you finish, you can enjoy some good tapas at one of the most popular bars in the town: Ca la Pilar Dumingu. You will find it right in the middle of the Plaça Major (the town's main square).
Pals Second-hand Market (Pals)

Do you remember the 3 Rs? Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Well, in Pals, they fully agree, which is why every Saturday morning, Plaça Catalunya, located right in the center of the town, is filled with vendors eager to sell and buyers looking for reusable items. You will find about twenty stalls with a variety of products: Shoes, jewelry, decoration, toys, etc. A market committed to sustainability located in one of the most beautiful medieval towns on the Costa Brava.
There is a long tradition of fairs and markets on the Costa Brava, which is why throughout the year and almost every weekend, you will find a great variety of markets and fairs all over the region for all tastes, such as weekly markets, antique and collectible markets, medieval-themed markets, craft and food fairs, summer markets, and even Christmas markets.
