Considered one of the lungs of Catalonia, the Montseny massif is full of beautiful natural spots you can explore on foot, by bike, or on horseback. Whether strolling through its ancient forests or visiting its architectural heritage, the activities offered by the Montseny Natural Park are wide. From Naturaki, we invite you to visit this natural space, declared a Biosphere Reserve. Here are 10 activities to help you discover Montseny's hidden treasures. Let's get started!

1. Forest Bathing

The Hidden Treasures of Montseny

While walking through the Montseny massif, you'll find a plethora of monumental and centenary trees. In Espinelves, you'll find the Arboretum of Masjoan, an ideal place for forest bathing. The concept of “forest bathing” comes from Japan and involves walking silently among trees while doing breathing and relaxation exercises. In Japan, many doctors recommend this practice to prevent certain conditions like stress or depression. If you enjoy this practice, you'll surely find our Forest Bathing post on our blog ideal.

2. Rock Climbing

Do you like adventure sports? How about climbing on the slopes of Montseny? In Sant Martí de Centelles, near the church of Sant Pere de Valldeneu, you'll find a rock-climbing area known as La Soleia. It offers routes ranging from ten to twenty meters in length, with difficulty levels from beginner up to 6b.

3. Strolling among River Pools and Streams

The Hidden Treasures of Montseny

Water is one of the main features of Montseny. Throughout the massif, you'll find streams and spectacular waterfalls. At the heart of the massif rises the Arbúcies stream. We recommend walking along its banks to enjoy a unique riverside landscape. Interested in discovering places filled with magical and witchcraft stories? The "dark river pools" are hard-to-reach areas near rivers associated with eerie legends. The most notable in the region are those in Viladrau, Gualba, and Riells. We invite you to also discover the best river pools in Girona.

4. Tasting Local Cuisine

The Hidden Treasures of Montseny

Montseny stands out for its traditional cuisine made with high-quality local products. If you like meat, you'll find restaurants specializing in grilled meats like lamb and goat in the region. In autumn, it's all about mushrooms. Some native varieties include escarlets, rovellons, llengües, and ceps, among others. Here you can find 10 tips to be good on gathering mushrooms. Another famous product is the "mongeta del ganxet" (white beans) which stands out for its culinary qualities. We recommend a typical regional dish: "butifarra with mongetes". The area's chestnuts are also well known, with forests of large century-old chestnut trees. Don't miss the Viladrau Chestnut Fair. Enjoy!

5. Hiking
