The first written documents of Viladrau date back to the year 898. The agricultural tradition was very relevant as evidenced by the presence of farms throughout its territory. However, its mineral waters play a major role.

One of the typical products of Viladrau are chestnuts. In the restaurants of the town it is cooked in different ways such as toast, in cream or as a base for desserts. A fair is also held in October where farmers give their chestnuts to taste.

Throughout the municipality you will find routes that explore its springs and streams. The most well-known source is that of the Paitides. According to tradition, its waters have healing properties, which is why there are often queues to see them. The source of Ferro is very rich in this mineral, which causes the surrounding stones to have a reddish-rusty hue. Another building of interest is the Sala, which is a fortified farmhouse from the 11th century that was the birthplace of the legendary bandit Serrallonga.
