Holiday cottage in Osona, the history of the area
Archaeological remains have been found that prove the
presence of Iberian tribes in lands that today belong to Osona. Among the most outstanding areas are that of L'Esquerda, Masies de Roda,
Roda de Ter, and that of Turó de Montgròs.
At the end of the 8th century, the county of Osona was established, which does not exactly coincide with the present-day boundary of the county, but already had the city of
Vic as its capital. The periods of splendor of the area were the Middle Ages, and the industrial era, since the water of the river Ter was used to build factories, a fact that triggered jobs for many people.

Visit Vic and Vic's Main Square
Vic, located an hour from cities like
Girona or
Barcelona, is a very good option to spend a few days and
enjoy all its culture at its best. From a tourist point of view, much of its attraction lies in its medieval heritage.
Now, if you go to Vic, what you can't miss is the Plaza Mayor
(the Main Square). This is the largest square in the metropolis, it has a square shape and is surrounded by porches where we find a large number of
shops and bars with local products of very good quality. The buildings surrounding the square are of different styles, which produces a mosaic of architecture worthy of contemplation.
Arrive at the Monastery of Sant Pere de Casserres and enjoy its beauty
The monastery of Sant Pere de Casserres, located in the Masies de Roda and the only one of the Benedictine order in Osona, was built under the patronage of the Viscount family of Osona: in 1006 the Viscountess Ermetrui bought the domain to Count Borrell of Barcelona, with the intention of building a monastery dedicated to Sant Pere. Currently, however, the monastery has ceased to perform its main function and now houses a permanent exhibition where the life of the monks in Casserres is interpreted.
