The first written documents of Santa Cecília de Voltregà are from the year 997. In the past, the term was called Santa Cecília de Moixons until the year 1150 it became its current name. During part of its history it was under the rule of Vic, and it was not until 1782 when it became independent. The natural and historical heritage are the main attraction of the town. Don't miss out on its gastronomy based on Osona home-cooked dishes and grilled meats.
In one of the highest points of Santa Cecília de Voltregà you will find the Gorg Negre. It is a place of great beauty in which there is a gorge of great depth. According to legends, witches used to gather in this place to cause storms and hailstorms on the Plain of Vic.
If you like hiking, in Sant Cecília de Voltregà you will find many trails that allow you to explore its entire territory. One of the most well-known is the Sorreigs route, which follows the course of the Sorreigs creek and crosses places such as the Gorg Negre or l'Aumatell. We also recommend that you do the Voltregà trail, a path that allows you to see historic buildings such as Voltregà Castle or Sant Martí Xic.
