Rupit and Pruit charming rural houses

Rupit i Pruit is located in the region of Osona , specifically in the northeast of the region and east of the Serra de Cabrera, next to Tavertet and Santa Maria del Corcó.

The region of Rupit and Pruit is made up of two urban centers that were independent until the 1980s: Rupit and Pruit. Although the castle and the church of Sant Joan de Fàbregues were built in the 13th century, it was not until the end of the 12th century that the village of Rupit was born and was inhabited by noble families.

However, in 1878 the church of Rupit ceased to depend on the town of Sant Joan de Fàbregues, and in 1959 the municipality changed its name to Rupit. And it wasn't until 1977 that Rupit and Pruit were united as municipalities.

The walls and medieval castles of Rupit have not withstood the passage of time and what this entails, but Rupit is a true medieval gem that stands out above all for the charm of the stone houses that make it up, which date from the 16th century and XVII.

One of the most visited places in the region and the village of Rupit is its famous suspension bridge. Although the bridge structure is safe, you are not allowed to swing or have 10 people pass on it at once. Once you've crossed the bridge, a very good option is to go down the stairs next to it and down to the creek. From there you can enjoy extraordinary views of the bridge from below.

Rupit Castle and the wall are believed to have been built between the 10th and 11th centuries. However, today practically only the memory remains: a wall and a few rows of walls are the only physical signs that there was a medieval history here in all its splendor.

One of the most interesting attractions of Rupit is to get lost in its center and its medieval alleys. Some houses are over 400 years old and in perfect condition.
