The vacation rentals Olot
In the town of Olot and its surroundings there are several charming places perfect to visit through our vacation rentals: the mythical volcanoes, the Fageda d'en Jordà, the historic center with the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Tura and the old Cloister of Carmel, the views from the various viewpoints such as Xenacs, the typical weekly markets in the center and the Museum of Volcanoes.
Olot and its volcanic environment
One of the singularities of the town of Olot lies in the fact that it is located between four volcanoes: the Montolivet, the Montsacopa, the Garrinada and the Bisaroques. At 500 meters above sea level, the Garrotxa region has at least 45 volcanoes, few of which have been studied in great detail.
The three best known volcanoes are Montsacopa, Santa Margarida and Croscat. Despite having a global analysis of the whole volcanic area, many more resources are needed to be able to analyze each of the volcanoes in detail.
What to do in Olot through our vacation rentals?
Visit the museums of Olot, such as that of Garrotxa
When you go to a city for the first time, it is essential to get to know it thoroughly in order to understand and enjoy it. The same applies to Olot. Visiting one of its museums, even if they are not too well known, is a good way to get to know the city.
The Garrotxa museum, which was previously called
Museo Comarcal de la Garrotxa, houses various artistic works of Catalan painting, but mainly from the area of Olot. In January 2017 it closed temporarily, but at the beginning of April it reopened, inaugurating a permanent exhibition, which focuses on the artistic history of the city and its art school.
A good option is also the
Museu dels Sants d'Olot. It was one of the first religious imagery workshops, specifically this one was founded in 1880. Currently, the museum shows how this workshop was used: the process of making religious images and their context. In addition, there is also a room focused on collections of images of saints and the Easter festivities.
Visit La Fageda d'en Jordà
One of the main tourist attractions of Olot is the Fageda d'en Jordà. Autumn is the most recommended season to visit it because of the color range of the beech leaves before they fall to the ground. An indispensable place to enjoy both with family and friends!
Enjoy the gastronomy of the area
Some say that
"eating what the land gives you makes you love it more". The restaurant Les Cols,
with two Michelin stars, is one of the best known in the area and attracts people from all over the world to taste its dishes. The kitchen relies on products from km 0 of La Garrotxa:
Santa Pau beans, lamb shoulder, courgette flower and volcanic broth are some of them. We know that the price is not within everyone's reach, but if you want to enjoy a great experience for all senses, we strongly recommend it! They also have an excellent vegetarian menu! Also, near Olot you can find other restaurants at the level of Les Cols, such as
Ca l'Enric, with a more than deserved Michelin star. However, you must bear in mind that you will also find other restaurants in the surrounding area at much more affordable prices, including daily menus, where you can also have good meals at much lower prices.
Visit the Fageda farm
La Fageda is a social project with a business structure to integrate people in the region who are in a situation of vulnerability. In other words, it is here where La Fageda's well-known yogurts are created and packaged. The factory and the farm, which are located very close to
the Beechwood of Jordà can be visited. For sure, getting to know the project up close will not leave you indifferent!
Experience the Tura Festivals
If you ask anyone from Olot what you can't miss in Olot, they will surely tell you about its main festivities:
the Festes del Tura, considered one of the most important festivities in the
Girona regions and in all of Catalonia. They are held at the beginning of September and last a whole week.
