Holiday cottages Torrefarrera

The town's name, like some others in Segrià, honors an Islamic tower around which the municipality was based. After the reconquest, in the 12th century, the town belonged to the Order of the Temple and from the beginning of the 14th century, after the extinction of the Templar Order, to that of the Hospitallers.

In the old town, you can visit the Parish Church of Santa Creu , in neoclassical style and rebuilt between 1941 and 1989, having been destroyed during the Civil War.

It's well worth a stroll along Carrer Major to appreciate the town's landmark cross , a modern structure of crystal and forge, made in 1994 by the local sculptor Jaume Perelló i Miró , of whom there is also a mural in the lobby of the town hall.

If you come to Torrefarrera in one of its holiday cottages, you can't miss the century-old banana tree, with a trunk almost 4 meters in diameter. This can be found leaving the town in the direction of Benavent, at the Molí exit.

In the direction of Lleida, on the other hand, half a kilometer from Torrefarrera, there is a building from the 18th century that belonged to a convent , later to a school and currently, to a residence.

There are many routes to travel around Torrefarrera, as everything is flat and has a lot of garden area. One route is the one that follows the Séquia del Secà and where you will find a mill.

Another alternative is in the Malpartit area. It is a circular route, along the road from Almacelles to Rosselló, until you find the Canal d'Alpicat. From there, take the dirt road to the Tros Gran swamp. Then, you take one of the garden paths that will lead you back to Malpartit.
