The history of Teià goes back to Roman times, due to the fact that it was one of the main centers of wine production in Barcino. The first written document in which the name of Teià appears does not appear until the year 958. During the War of Succession, Teià fought against the invasion of the Bourbon troops.

Agriculture is one of the main economic activities in Teià. Its winemaking tradition still lives on and you will see vine crops throughout its territory. If you walk through the city center you must visit the parish church of Sant Martí . This religious building stands out for having a Renaissance-style portal and a neo-Gothic window that was added in the 20th century. Other buildings that you must also see are Can Bru or Can Pol.

The Roman presence was very important in Teià. In this complex you can visit an archaeological site that dates back to the Roman era and was a wine-growing center of the Roman Laietania. Lluís Galera discovered it in 1966. During the visit you will be able to see what the whole process of wine cultivation, production and marketing was like. In addition, you will also see two reconstructions of wine presses from two thousand years ago.

Teià's cuisine is based on the use of ingredients mostly from the Maresme garden, in a clear commitment to traditional Catalan cuisine. However, if you visit Teià during its Festa Major you must try the famous relleno. This dish basically consists of a stew of apples that are stuffed with meat. It's delicious!
