What can you do in Tavertet and its Holiday cottages?

Remains of Neolithic pottery have been found in different areas of the territory of Tavertet. However, the first written references are from the year 1070 when it was under the rule of Rupit Castle. If you want to enjoy splendid views, you should know that the town has two viewpoints. One is that of Can Xicou and from it you can see the Guilleries and Montseny. The other is the Miradora and allows you to contemplate the valley of the sot de Balà or the jump of the Bernat mill.

Gastronomy is another of Tavertet's attractions. In its restaurants you can taste traditional Osona dishes such as toasted soup with meatballs or grilled meats such as lamb or goat.

Visit the Avenc

Agriculture is one of the main economic activities in Tavertet. There are numerous farmhouses that you can find throughout its territory. One of the best known is the Casal de l'Avenc. It is a large stone house dating from the 13th century. Its architecture is a clear example of Catalan rural Gothic. Other farmhouses that you must see are the Perelada which dates from the 16th century and has a square tower or the Baumes which has a large covered balcony.

Stroll through its historic center

Walking through the center of Tavertet you can see a sample of its architectural heritage. One of the most emblematic buildings is the parish church of Sant Cristòfol, which dates from 1070. In the 13th century, a bell tower and a second covered nave were added. Inside there is a Gothic image of Santa Maria. You must also visit the church of Sant Miquel de Sorerols, which is a Romanesque landmark in Osona.
