The history of Calella dates back to the 1st century BC, given that vestiges of a Roman town have been found in its territory. Textile activity was very important during the 20th century. One of the most relevant centers has been the old Llobet-Guri textile factory.
One of the most emblematic spaces of Calella is its lighthouse, which was once a watchtower. You can also approach the viewpoint of the Torretes, from where you can observe the sea. Don't miss any of the popular festivals held in Calella. Some of the most well-known are the Minerva major festival, the Renaissance Fair or the Calella Oktoberfest.
The beaches of Calella stand out for the quality of their waters and for having fine sand. You have more than three kilometers available so you can take advantage and take walks along the sea. There are also areas where you can play sand sports. Some of the best-known beaches are Les Roques or La Gran. If you visit the yacht club, there is a sailing school where fishing competitions are also organized.
The town square is one of the main places of interest. In the past, the weekly market was held. The presence of Gothic houses dating from the 16th century stands out. Very close you can see buildings of great value such as the parish church of Santa Maria and Sant Nicolau. Its style is neoclassical and dates from the 16th century.
