What can you do in Serral and its Holiday cottages?

Remains of the Roman presence have been found in the municipality. In 1196 it came under the control of the Templars. Subsequently, in 1285 it passed into the hands of the monastery of Santes Creus. Thanks to the alabaster mining operations, Serral had great economic growth. The Alabaster Museum is a clear example of all this past.

From the center of Serral you can take different routes on foot or by bike to visit the surroundings of the municipality and see its vineyards. You can also take the opportunity to visit the cooperative's farm shop and buy some of the native products such as wine or cava.

Visit the Alabaster Museum

One of the main economic pillars of Sarral has been the alabaster industry. This natural stone, once it is polished, makes different sculptural pieces that have a compact finish. In the Alabaster Museum you can see how the whole process of manufacturing alabaster works, from the extraction of the stone to the final finish. Demonstrations are also given by the museum's artisans.

The sanctuary of Saints Doctors Cosme and Damià was renovated at the beginning of the 20th century by the architect Josep Puig i Torné. As a fact of interest you should know that during the Middle Ages many people who had the black plague made a pilgrimage to this sanctuary hoping to be healed by the saints.
