Vestiges of Iberian and Roman presence have been found in Barberà de la Conca. The first written document in which the municipality is named is from the year 945. Thanks to the vine, this municipality had great economic growth until the phylloxera appeared. Nevertheless, at present the production of wine is one of the engines of its economy. Visit the Barberà castle

One of the most important buildings in Barberà de la Conca is Barberà Castle . Military religious orders such as the Templars or the Hospitallers have passed through him. It is located in one of the higher parts of the municipality, which means that it has exceptional views. The cylindrical tower is preserved from the oldest part.

Near the castle you will find the parish church of Santa Maria. It was built at the end of the 18th century and its style is Baroque. One of the most outstanding elements of this building is its bell tower, which is 35 meters high.

Take a wine tour

The wine tradition is deeply rooted in Barberà de la Conca. Within the municipality there are two cooperative wineries. One of them is the first winery that existed in Catalunya and began operating in 1900. The Barberà Agricultural Union built its own building in 1919. It was designed by Cèsar Martinell, who makes it have a unique image. Tastings are held inside the winery's facilities, allowing you to taste some of the best-known wines from the DO Conca de Barberà.
