The first written document about Pira appeared in 1067. During a time in the twelfth century it was under the rule of the monastery of Poblet. In the 19th century it lived its greatest splendor. The old part of Pira is made up of narrow streets and low houses. You can take advantage and see the church of Sant Salvador, a 19th century monument with a single nave.

Pira is a municipality with a long winemaking tradition. In fact, the cultivation of the vine is one of the main economic activities of the municipality. The celler Agrícola was built in 1919. Its design was made by Cèsar Martinell, Antoni Gaudí's disciple. The union building is a clear modernist example in an agricultural building.
