What can you do in Lluçà and its Holiday cottages?

The first settlers of Lluçà were the Iberians and the Romans. However, it is not until the year 879 when the first written references of the municipality are found. Very close to Santa Maria de Lluçà are the ruins of the castle. It was demolished in the 15th century and from its location you can enjoy very good views of the whole town. Next to the castle is the church of Sant Vicenç del Castell. It dates from the 11th century and was the chapel of the owners of the castle.

Visit the complex of Santa Maria de Lluçà

One of the best-known places in Lluçà is the monastery of Santa Maria. It was founded in the middle of the twelfth century and preserves a large part of Catalan Romanesque paintings and sculptures of great value. In fact, the wall paintings date from the 14th century. Unfortunately, between the years 1428 and 1448 a series of earthquakes occurred in Catalunya which caused significant damage to the monastery. Thanks to renovations carried out in 1967, the church recovered its original 12th century appearance.

Take a hiking route

If you want to enjoy outdoor activities, in the natural surroundings of Lluçà you will find numerous marked hiking routes. Many of them have a very low level of difficulty, which is why you can do them with the family. One of the most well-known is the route of the Gavarresa stream that crosses lush forests of great beauty. You can also go as far as the Rourets, a forest where you will find the Mosquera spring, a perfect place to cool off.
