The first settlements of the town are from the end of the Neolithic. Concretely, remains of ceramic containers and flint lithic tools have been found at the Guillera spring. However, the first written references are from the year 905. Walking through the center of the town you can see buildings such as the chapel of Bona Sort which is in Romanesque style. Another very important building is the Romanesque church of Sant Andreu de Llanars which dates from the year 997. Also, don't forget to visit the Castell del Quer which is from the year 1056 or the church of Santa Llúcia del Quer which was built in the thirteenth century.

One of the most relevant cultural centers in Prats de Lluçanès is the Miquel Soldevila Museum. It is located in what was his summer house. In its facilities you can see different rooms dedicated to the history and the various traditions of the municipality as well as an exhibition of tools used in ancient trades.

Popular traditions are deeply rooted in Prats de Lluçanès. One of the most important events takes place on the 24th and 25th of June. It is the feast of Saint John and the Elois. During this celebration, the porters wear a blouse, a white scarf and a cap. Some of the most outstanding events are the torch march or the Eloi races. For Sant Vicenç, the Trencadansa ballad is celebrated as well as a traditional serenade. Be sure to visit the Santa Llúcia fair in December, an exhibition dedicated to livestock and agriculture in the municipality.
