Llagostera is a municipality in Gironès with a rich historical and natural heritage, which offers a calm and welcoming atmosphere, as well as opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities and explore Catalan culture.
If you spend a few days in Llagostera, you cannot miss the castle, which is the best medieval testimony of the town and crowns the highest point of the town. It was royal property and, from 1314, domain of the Rocabertí family. Today you can see the two circular towers joined by a section of the local wall, in front of the parish church of Sant Fèlix. A 9th century temple that follows the Gothic tradition and is composed of a single nave and several chapels between buttresses. Although the first references date back to 885, the church we see today began to be built in the 17th century and was not finished until 1730. In the main square you will find the Casino Llagosterenc, a 1888 nineteenth-century building. You can also approach the Dolmen Museum and learn about the history and prehistory of Llagostera and, obviously, learn about the Renaissance House of the Widows (16th century), the town's most emblematic building.
The municipality of Llagostera is included in the Carrilet route , which linked Girona with Sant Feliu de Guíxols and which is currently a fantastic greenway to travel by bicycle. In addition, the cork oak, oak and pine forests of the Gavarres massif are a fantastic setting for hiking and trekking. You will find very pleasant routes, such as the one in the Ridaura valley .
