The history of Alella dates back to the Neolithic period. Remains of Celtic, Iberian and Roman settlers have also been found. However, the first written references to Alella do not appear until the year 976. During the Middle Ages, the municipal term was under the rule of the counts of Barcelona.
Walking through the town center you will find buildings of great value such as the parish church of Sant Feliu d'Alella. Although its origins are Romanesque, its facade was renovated in 1611 in a Renaissance style.
Vine culture is deeply rooted in Alella. Throughout the municipality you will find wineries that produce wines under the DO Alella. White and white raisin wines stand out. However, other varieties are also produced. One of the most popular celebrations in the municipality is the Harvest Festival, in which the grapes are trampled and various wines from the municipality are tasted.
The Parc de la Serralada Litoral has several itineraries for walking or cycling. One of the best known is that of Toni's rock that passes through Cabrils and Vilassar de Dalt. In the park you can also see farmhouses and medieval buildings that recall the feudal past of the municipality.
