Sorry, but we don't have any accommodation near Xerta
The town of Xerta has a long history. It has suffered looting in different wars such as the War of Independence or the Carlist wars. During the Spanish Civil War it was an area of high military activity as can be seen in the trenches of Barranc dels Fornets.
In Xerta you will find numerous hiking routes that cross an entirely agricultural landscape. The green route is one of the most popular routes. If you go in the spring you can see how the orange blossom permeates the air of the fields with its aroma. Xerta fruit is well known throughout the territory. We recommend you try their oranges. You will love them!
One of the most important works of hydraulic engineering on the Ebro River is the assud. It is a rush that is approximately 310 meters long. Cross the river diagonally from side to side. Its function is to divert water from the Ebre river towards the right and left channels. As a curious fact you should know that its history begins in the Islamic era. Later in the 12th century it was restored and it wasn't until the 19th century that work was done to lead the water to the canals.
The Via Verda is an old railway route that is now disused. It has been converted into a route that you can do on foot or by bike. Along the route you will be able to see old train stations and numerous tunnels as well as a landscape with great appeal.
