Rupit and Pruit, a medieval gem

Rupit i Pruit is located in the region of Osona , specifically in the northeast of the region and east of the Serra de Cabrera, next to Tavertet and Santa Maria del Corcó.

The region of Rupit and Pruit is made up of two urban centers that were independent until the 1980s: Rupit and Pruit. Although the castle and the church of Sant Joan de Fàbregues were built in the 13th century, it was not until the end of the 12th century that the village of Rupit was born and was inhabited by noble families.

However, in 1878 the church of Rupit ceased to depend on the town of Sant Joan de Fàbregues, and in 1959 the municipality changed its name to Rupit. And it wasn't until 1977 that Rupit and Pruit were united as municipalities.
