The first news about the municipality dates from the year 1148 when King Alfonso I donated the castle of Pauls to Guerau de Riu. Its proximity to the Parc Natural dels Ports allows you to take numerous hiking routes. One of the most well-known is the southern stars route that crosses the entire park and allows you to see animals such as the falcon, the eagle or the wild cat.

Gastronomy is also very important in the municipality. You can try a dish based on game meat or recapte , a cake made with fresh produce from the garden. We recommend that you try one of the typical sweets such as panolis, rosegones or mantecats.

Stroll through Sant Roc

One of the best-known places in Paüls is the ermita de Sant Roc. It is located in a natural area of great beauty where you will find a fountain with sixteen outlets. There is also a leisure space for the rogue to play. Another building of interest is the església parroquial which is dedicated to the Nativity of Santa Maria. Its construction is in Gothic style and you will find it in the highest part of the municipality.

Enjoy its traditions

One of the most popular celebrations in Paüls is the Cherry Festival . It is celebrated at the end of May or beginning of June. The streets of the village are filled with stalls where you can taste the different varieties of cherries. There are also play spaces where children can learn aspects of this fruit while playing. At the Festa Major you can enjoy the jota de Paüls, a typical dance of the town that has its origins at the beginning of the 20th century.
