Vestiges of Iberian towns have been found in the capital of Montsià, which suggests that it is above Ibera, considered the first human settlement on the Iberian Peninsula. One of the most emblematic elements of Amposta is its bridge . Its works began in 1915 and it consists of two stone pillars shaped like a triumphal arch. It was a defense element that was responsible for monitoring and defending the passage of the river through the city.

Castell d'Ulldecona

Located in the Puig de la Serra Grossa, the castle of Ulldecona has passed through several hands throughout its history. Between the 7th and 11th centuries it was an Arab fortification. Once the lands of the Ebre were conquered, it passed into Christian hands and was transferred to the military order of the Hospital of Sant Joan in Jerusalem . Over time, the population gathered around the castle to protect themselves from Muslim attacks.

Currently, the castle consists of three buildings. Its best-known structure is the circular tower , which in the 12th century served as a lookout. From its upper terrace you can enjoy privileged views. The church dates from the 16th century and could have replaced an old chapel. The castle is of great historical importance, due to the fact that remains of ancient Iberian settlements have been found.
