El Castellet de Banyoles de Tivissa is one of the most important sites in Catalonia. It dates from the 4th century BC and was reformed until the 14th century when it became a medieval building.

El Castell Nou de Flix , located in an elevated area, offers magnificent panoramic views. In Móra d'Ebre, in the old town you will find a castle of Arab origin. Today it is renovated and many cultural activities are held. One of the best-known castles on the Ribera d'Ebre is that of Miravet. It has an Arab origin, but with the reconquest it passed into the hands of the Templars. With the fall of the temple order, it became a Cistercian monastery. Today, it still retains much of its architectural detail.

A walk through history

Ribera d'Ebre has witnessed numerous wars. Without a doubt, one of the most important was the Battle of the Ebro , during the Spanish Civil War. Throughout the region, heritage related to this event is still preserved.

In Flix you will find a shelter excavated on the rock that has been turned into a museum where you can see what the inside of these buildings looked like. The refugi de Benissanet is another example of a shelter made by the population itself to protect itself from the bombings of Franco's aviation. In Riba-roja, much of the structure of the old trenches is still preserved. If you get close to Ascó you can visit the camp of the XV Corps of the Ebre Army . From here the withdrawal of the republican troops was planned.

Do outdoor activities

The range of activities you can do in Ribera d'Ebre is very varied. We recommend the Camí Natural de l'Ebre . A route that traces the course of the river and allows you to get to know the most inhospitable places in the region. If you like climbing, then you must visit Tivissa and the surrounding mountains. You're sure to have a great time!

Try its gastronomy

The cuisine in Ribera d'Ebre has its origins in the farmers of the region. This makes it a simple kitchen but with a great variety of ingredients. Many dishes use local natural products. One of the best known is the cloxa. Its ingredients are bread, tomato, onion, garlic, herring and a good drizzle of oil. In fact, the Festa de la Clotxa is celebrated in Móra la Nova, where restaurants from the area come together to promote this traditional dish.

Rice is another of the most important elements of gastronomy. Paella marinera and rice bowls are very popular. Seafood also plays a major role. In its restaurants you can find galleys, mussels, prawns, crayfish, oysters as well as dishes with river fish such as tench or eels. If you like sweets, don't forget to try the many varieties of cookies or the cakes filled with angel hair.

Taste their typical products

Local products have a great weight in the economy of Ribera d'Ebre. In the wine cellars of the region you will find wines made in-house . All the grapes come from our own harvests and are processed in a completely artisanal way. We recommend that you try Vimblanc . A raisin wine that is highly appreciated as an accompaniment to desserts. Dairy products are up to the most demanding palates. Taste some of the sheep or goat cheeses and sausages . They are delicious! Fruit is also one of the star local products. The peaches of Benissanet are recognized after the territory.

Craftsmanship, an ancestral trade

This way you can see how they work and you can also take the opportunity to buy some of their pieces. In Rasquera you can find artisans working the palm tree to make baskets, baskets, carpets, etc. Many of them are women who take training courses in their art for both adults and children.

Fantastic house for a rural weekend

The house is very comfortable, ideal in summer to enjoy the pool and the interior. The play area and the pergola are very pleasant. We had some incidents, but the owner was available and it was quickly resolved. We got the impression that there is not much to do in the area, but for a weekend it is perfect.

A great weekend with lifelong friends

Mas Teodoro, managed by Naturaki in Borges del Camp, has exceeded all our expectations. One of the highlights of Mas Teodoro, in our opinion, is its common spaces, which are designed to offer maximum comfort and fun. The games room is a fabulous space to spend time in a group, with a wide variety of games, table tennis, billiards, foosball, parchis, cards. The large dining room in the kitchen is another strong point of the house. This space is perfect for gathering with friends, enjoying long tables and preparing meals together. In the garden, the square table is ideal for eating outdoors and taking advantage of the good weather. Not forgetting the barbecue. Finally, the pool is a true paradise to relax and cool off. Whether it's bathing or enjoying the sun on the deckchairs, this space is a great attraction of the house. In short, Mas Teodoro offers a great experience with its common spaces that encourage coexistence, fun and relaxation.
