Know the history of Moianès

Do you know why we want to tell you the story of Moianès? Because it hasn't even existed for 10 years! Yes, this county was born quite a while ago, on the first of May 2015. Until then, the towns that make it up belonged to other counties, specifically Bages, Vallès Oriental and Osona. Nevertheless, the sotsvegueria of Moianès appears in documents dating from 1289. And, back in the day, the towns that currently make up the region had close ties with the most important of all: the almost unanimous wish of the neighbors, to form the Moianès.

Despite this, the Moianès was not decreed as a territory in the county division of 1936, nor in the subsequent reforms. The Roca Report, a territorial reorganization process, did contemplate it, but March 22, 2015 had to be the decisive date. That day, a non-binding consultation was held to find out the opinion of the residents. With 80.6% of the positive votes, Moianès was finally born in May of that same year. One of the monks helped her cross, and on returning to the monastery the other complained to the abbot that his companion had broken the ordinances of religion by touching the woman. The Abbot decreed that Evil was still in the monk who told him the story, who was thinking of that woman.
  • Font de les Tàpies: the Moianès is full of water, and proof of this is the numerous gorges and water springs that can be found. The Tàpies, in Calders, is quite magical. In a place surrounded by mosses, ferns and 40 m high trees, a 25 m waterfall feeds the fountain.
  • El Molí de Brotons: also known as Molí de la Tosca because of the spring of water in the corner, it is known that it was inhabited until 1863, when a flood of water carried away a baby in its crib. However, the road from Moià offers a beautiful landscape, and the place is enchanting.

The Popa castle or Castellcir castle should be highlighted: just less than 2 km from the town where it is located, it is unique in its kind. It is a small fortification in ruins from the 10th century. What is so special about it? That is on a rock in the shape of the stern of a ship!

Spectacular and a beautiful setting

We stayed here with our family this weekend, and the house far exceeded our expectations. The decor, the convenience of every bedroom having its own bathroom, and the lush green landscape surrounded by mountains make it very peaceful. The village of Rajadell, ten minutes away, is lovely. The beds were very comfortable, and everything was very clean. The owners were also very kind: we left a suitcase behind, and they sent it to us by courier straight away. We’ll be back!

Quiet and very well equipped house

Ideal to disconnect from everything. The house is surrounded by nature and you forget about civilization; there are also small corners inside where you can take refuge if you want to spend some time alone. The pool is absolute relaxation and there are even hammocks inside the room. The kitchen is very well equipped, with utensils and dishes for everything. All rooms are comfortable and have their private bathroom, the one on the top floor is beautiful (watch your head if you're tall!). In addition, the owners have been very kind, which is greatly appreciated.

Excellent family stay in this charming rural house

We were a family of 14 people including grandparents, children and grandchildren. Everyone found their place in this large rural house full of charm. The pool and the outdoor terraces were loved by both the little ones and the adults. We had all our meals outside, on the south terrace, in the shade of the parasols. The large kitchen was up to the task, and the services (dishes, sheets and towels, cleaning) were very much appreciated. The house and the gardens were very clean. We recommend!
