The first human settlements that have been found in Manlleu are from the Middle Neolithic. There are also remains of Iberians at the site of Can Caseta or Puig Guardial. Walking through the town center you will see the parish church of Santa Maria, a baroque style building. You will also find buildings in the noucentist style such as the Vilamala house.
On the outskirts of Manlleu you can visit the Rusiñol colony, a work linked to the town's industrial past. Another very interesting site is that of the Fabra i Coats factory where you can visit spaces such as the theater or the fireplace, among others.
The Ter River has been of great importance in two key sectors of the Catalan economy such as textiles and construction. The museum building is located in one of the first factories that were built in Manlleu. Specifically, it is the old cotton spinning mill of Can Sanglas. The museum is divided into three parts. In the first you can see the factory's old turbines and alternators in operation. In the second, there is a review of the entire history of cotton spinning and finally a tour of the entire natural and hydrological environment.
El Ter plays a very important role in the sporting and cultural life of Manlleu. If you approach the Parc del Ter, you will find a walking circuit that joins the two banks of the river. On one of the shores there is a jetty from where you can go sailing along the Ter in a canoe or take a bicycle and go along its entire promenade.
