L'Espunyola has a long rural and pastoral tradition. Its proximity to the resorts of La Cerdanya, Port del Comte or Rasos de Peguera allows you to practice different snow sports in winter. During autumn, the village's forests are full of mushrooms, so you can plan trips to pick them. Be sure to try the local gastronomy where you will find many dishes of traditional Catalan cuisine.
L'Espunyola has a natural environment that invites you to do many outdoor activities. Throughout the term you will find many paths that cross lush forests and where you can see churches, fountains, caves and waterfalls. There are also routes that can be done on horseback and that reach different places in the region. Mountain bike lovers can do the Sant Quintí route of 31 kilometers and the Capolat route of 47 kilometers. If you like long-distance trails, the GR-1 passes through the area.
Espunyola has an important historical and architectural heritage. Walking around the center of the town you will discover a set of buildings that are in a good state of conservation and are of great interest. One of the best known buildings is the chapel of Our Lady of the Forest. It is a Romanesque construction that is very close to a megalithic tomb.
