What can you do in the Holiday cottages of la Canonja?

La Canonja stands out for having a large number of historical buildings and monuments. For example, in the Jaciment del Barranc de La Boella, skeletal remains of animals have been found that are almost a million years old. In addition, you have natural spaces very close where you can take routes on foot or by bike.

Buildings full of history

In the historic center of Canonja is Castell de Masricart. Its structure is typically Gothic although it is not very clear when it was built. Nowadays it is the seat of the Public Library, the Municipal Archive and also hosts numerous events and exhibitions.

Two monuments of great interest are l'Església de Sant Sebastià i l'Església de la mare de Déu de l'Esperança. You can also visit the Civil War air raid shelters, where you can see panels explaining how the shelters were built and how they worked.

El jaciment del Barranc de la Boella

This site is an archaeological complex of great interest, because it allows us to know what the first human populations that lived in Camp de Tarragona were like and the natural environment in which they lived. It was discovered at the beginning of the 20th century. However, it was from the year 1970 that the archaeologist Salvador Vilaseca began the first work. As a curiosity, in 2006 there was a strong torrent that exposed some remains of mammoth teeth.
