What can you do in Gandesa and its Holiday cottages?

Remains of human settlements dating back to the Bronze Age have been found. Gandesa has experienced tough battles such as those that occurred during the Carline wars or in the Spanish Civil War. However, it still maintains a large part of its architectural heritage.

Wine culture is deeply rooted in the population. You can take advantage and visit some of its cooperatives where you can taste some of the DO Terra Alta wines. We also recommend the Centre d'Estudis de la Batalla de l'Ebre. A place where you can see eight themed rooms with military and cultural material.

Visit the Celler Cooperatiu

The Cooperativa Agrícola de Gandesa was founded in 1919. Its modernist-style building was designed by Cèsar Martinell, a disciple of Antoni Gaudí. In 2000, the cooperative decided to bet on technology in order to adapt to the new times. It was also equipped with an underground cellar and professional oenological equipment. Currently, wine is not produced in the old building. Its function is to explain the history of the cooperative and modernism.

Discover its historic buildings

One of the best-known buildings in Gandesa is the Església de la Mare de Déu de l'Assumpció. A Romanesque-style building that has a 40-meter-high bell tower that was added in the 17th century. Other buildings you can visit are the Palau del Castellà or the Palau de Ca l'Inquisidor.
