The foundation of la Fatarella dates back to the 10th century. During the medieval period it passed through several owners and was the scene of numerous battles. In fact, it was walled up until the 17th century. One of the hardest moments for the population was when in the Spanish Civil War 34 farmers were executed at the hands of the anarchists. The streets of the historic center of Fatadella are narrow and reminiscent of the medieval era. One of the most important buildings is the església de Sant Andreu. It has a Renaissance style that combines Gothic elements. In the antiga ermita de Sant Bartomeu there is a monument dedicated to the anonymous fighters who fell during the Battle of the Ebro.

La Fatarella has intense cultural activity. In the main winter festival, it is tradition to dance a jota. At the Oil Festival you will be able to taste a large number of typical dishes of the town and which are a gastronomic benchmark in the region.
