Remains of Iberian villages have been found in the Puig de la Madrona area. The first written documents are from the year 1115. If you walk through the center of the town you can see one of its most emblematic buildings. This is the church of Santa Eulàlia del Papiol. It was built in 1950 and has a square bell tower.
Popular festivals are also deeply rooted in the population. Highlights include the Cherry Festival where local farmers give their cherries to taste. The Summer Festival and Cultural Week are also very important.
Located on the banks of the Llobregat river you will find the castle of el Papiol. In 1116 it was ceded by the Count of Barcelona to the Arnau brothers. Its function was to protect the Llobregat river and the road to Barcelona from Muslim invasions. Due to an earthquake that occurred in the area, it suffered considerable damage, however, in 1448 it was rebuilt. It was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1988. Currently, music festivals and other cultural activities are organized in the summer months.
On the edge of Puig de la Madrona is the Ermita de la Salut. It is a building with a single nave in Romanesque style with Lombard decoration from the 11th century. In the area where it is located, you can see a series of geographical accidents called Escletxes. It is a series of cracks that have been forming in the mountain over the years.
