Holiday cottages in Masroig

The history of Masroig dates back to pre-Iberian times as can be seen in the various settlements that have been found throughout the municipality. During its history it has been under the rule of different lords such as the Entença of the county of Prades or the Charterhouse of Escaladei. One of the most relevant buildings is the church of Sant Bartomeu. It was built in the 19th century and inside you can see clay pieces that have the shape of a cross.

The good orography of Masroig allows you to do numerous routes on foot or by bike. You have several itineraries that go to neighboring towns such as El Molar or Bellmunt. There is also a path that goes to Falset and will allow you to see dry stone huts, one of the most characteristic elements of the Priorat's rural landscape.

This village is located on the right bank of the Siurana river and is one of the oldest from the protohistoric period that can be found in Catalunya. It is dated between the 9th and 7th centuries BC. Its extension is about 1200 square meters and you can see the entire plant.

Wine culture is deeply rooted in Masroig. If you visit some of their wineries you can see their facilities. One of the most popular wineries is the Masroig winery. It was founded in 1927 and is one of the largest in the Priory. Its wines are under the DO Montsant and are marketed under different commercial brands. On the other hand, it also produces virgin olive oil with the DO Siurana.
