The beginnings of Capolat are linked to its castle which was formerly part of Cardona. Around the term you will see farmhouses that are a clear vestige of the town's rural past. The best known are those of Puig, Cal Riera, la Serreta, among others.
The surroundings of Capolat are conducive to all kinds of outdoor activities. On the one hand, in the autumn the forests of the municipality are filled with mushrooms, which allows you to go on excursions to collect them. On the other hand, the topography of the land is mountainous, with which you can do many mountain bike routes to the neighboring towns. If you like hiking, from the center of the town there are different paths that go into fields where you can see old farmhouses.
One of the main attractions of Capolat is that it still retains a good part of its historical heritage. One of the best known buildings is the church of Sant Martí. It is a small building that is located on top of a hill from where you can see old agricultural fields. Inside it houses a wooden carving of the Virgin of Tossals that dates from the 13th century. The old church of Sant Salvador is also of great interest. It is a Romanesque building of which some remains remain and it is believed to have been the old Benedictine monastery of Sant Salvador de Mata.
