Curiosities you will discover in Alcoletge if you spend a few days in a holiday cottage

Islamic origin and, moreover, is equivalent to
al-qulaia , which means
castle or fortress . That is to say, that towards the s. X a castle was built in the current Alcoletge that was supposed to protect the city of
Lleida. It was
Ramon Berenguer IV who received the castle of Alcoletge from the Almoravid valí of Lleida, of which nothing remains. Previously, Alcoletge had already been inhabited by Iberians, Romans and Visigoths.

What you can do from your holiday cottage in Alcoletge
Not too far from the church and towards the west, is the
Tossal dels Morts , an elevation of the land that, in its time, housed an Islamic tower, a cemetery from the s. XIX and a battery of trenches during the Civil War.
It is also well worth visiting the
Tossal de la Nora , where apart from some trenches from the Civil War, some medieval tombs have been discovered.
And if we go towards the train station, on the other side of the tracks, there is one of the best preserved
bunkers of the Civil Guard.
