Located at the highest point of the Collserola Range, Tibidabo is a century-old amusement park with a very special charm that preserves many of its historical attractions while combining them with some of the most modern and cutting-edge attractions where you can unleash all your adrenaline. If you're eager to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city of Barcelona and want to take some spectacular pictures, we encourage you to discover Tibidabo, one of the most iconic mountains in the Barcelona skyline.
The history of Tibidabo amusement park

The Tibidabo amusement park was built as a private leisure park in 1899 by pharmacist Salvador Andreu and was inaugurated in 1901. However, it was not until 1905 that the first attractions began to operate, such as mirrors, swings, and the carrier pigeon station, among others.
What can I visit on Tibidabo mountain?

We know that what interests you most is the amusement park. And now we will tell you everything you need to know to enjoy it to the fullest. But Tibidabo is much more than entertainment! It's worth taking advantage of the visit to learn about a couple more things. Take your notebook and pen and continue reading: first, we recommend the Temple of Tibidabo or Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. A church located at the highest point of the mountain and therefore visible from anywhere in the city. If you are a traveler, it will probably remind you of the Basilica of the Sacré Cœur in Paris. The visit is free. We also recommend that you go up to the top of the temple because the views are breathtaking, on clear days, you can even see the Tramuntana Range in Mallorca. And if you want to take one of those Instagram-worthy photos, it is worth approaching the Collserola Tower viewpoint. It offers a panoramic view of the entire city. Do you remember the episode of TV series Friends where they talk about the Tibidabo mountain?
How to get there: the Tibidabo Funicular

The funicular, known as Cuca de Llum, is the most typical way to access the amusement park, especially if you go with children. It is a refurbished and renovated funicular, inaugurated in 2021, 120 years after the original was launched. The journey only lasts four minutes, but it is well worth it. If you prefer to go by private vehicle, you can park close to the park or at the funicular's departure station. If you prefer public transportation, buses from different points in Barcelona go to Tibidabo. However, we recommend taking the Cuca de Llum. The kids will love it!
Classic attractions at Tibidabo

You'll find everything at Tibidabo. Iconic attractions such as Miramiralls, which were the first concave-convex mirrors in Spain, or Talaia, which, although it opened in 1921, is still amazing. This attraction allows you to enjoy the best views of Barcelona from 550 meters above sea level. You also cannot miss the Hotel 666, also known as Hotel Krüeger, with guests from the horror film world, where you will experience truly terrifying situations. The tour lasts about ten minutes and is genuinely frightening. Or you can soar with the Airplane, the most emblematic attraction of Tibidabo Park and the first flight simulator in history. It is a replica of the first airplane that flew from Barcelona to Madrid in 1927. Another mythical attraction is the Carousel, a must at any fair or amusement park. The first one arrived at Tibidabo in 1910 and was installed where the Crash Cars are now. The current one is from 1989, and inside the roof, you will find paintings of the automatons that you will see in the Automaton Museum, another classic of the park where you can discover more than 40 pieces from the 19th and 20th centuries.
