Little history of Torres de Segre
We know of ancient civilizations that had occupied the current territory of Torres de Segre, given that
archaeological remains from the Bronze Age and a Roman town were discovered, on the way to
Sunyer, while fields were being prepared for cultivation.
After the reconquest, Torres de Segre depended on the
house of Cervera and the monastery of Poblet . In 1227, Ramon de Cervera sold the castle and town of Torres de Segre, as well as the rights to the old Torres canal, to Hug de Blumant, Pere Clavell and Guillem Hug de Tolosa.
Finally, the territory passed into the hands of the
Templars and later, after their extinction, to those of the
Hospitallers .
