What can you do in Sort and its Holiday cottages?

The name of Sort predates the Roman era. In fact, it comes from a language of Basque origin that was spoken in Alt Pallars and that has its root in the word suert which means bridge. The first written documents that refer to the town are from the year 1069. As a curious fact you should know that Sort is also known for its lottery administration, La Bruixa d'Or, which has distributed many important prizes and that it receives thousands of visitors every year. On the other hand, the Noguera Pallaresa pass allows you to do a wide variety of water sports such as canoeing or rafting.

Stroll through the historic center

The center of Sort is made up of narrow streets and old houses. Walking through its historic center you can see vestiges of the old wall that protected the town. You can also visit the Castle of Sort which was the former residence of the Counts of Pallars. Exhibitions and cultural events are held in the county archive of Sort, as well as an important documentary collection.

Visit the Camí de la Llibertat museum

The museum was inaugurated in 2007. The building was an old prison that was located in the center of the town. The museum wants to remember the passage through Sort of thousands of people fleeing the Nazi occupation during the Second World War.
