The origins of Rubió date back to the 10th century with the construction of the castle. The megalithic remains prove human presence for many centuries. Popular traditions are deeply rooted in the population. During the fourth week after Easter, the Festa Major is celebrated, an event that lasts two days and is known for the blessing and distribution of Panet.
Around Rubió you can see a set of buildings of great historical value. One of the best known is the castle. It dates from the 10th century and the remains of the circular tower and perimeter walls are currently preserved. Very close to the castle you will find the church of Sant Pere d'Ardesa, a single-nave Romanesque building with a circular apse. In the urban center is the church of Santa Maria. It was built between the years 1275 and 1300. Its style is Gothic and throughout its history it has been restored on several occasions. On the other hand, you cannot miss visiting the dolmen of the Three Kings. It is a megalithic tomb that is dated around 1200 BC.
Rubió has a privileged natural environment. There are different paths throughout the municipality that allow you to take hiking routes where you can admire natural corners of great beauty. We recommend that you take the route that runs through its historical heritage.
