Margalef was one of the last strongholds of the Arab invasion in the Priorat. During part of its history it was under the domain of the episcopal barony of Cabacés. Agriculture is one of its main economic activities. It emphasizes the cultivation of olive and almond trees as well as the manufacture of oil.

If you walk through the center of the town, you will see that some of its houses climb between the rocks. One of the most emblematic buildings in Margalef is the parish church of Sant Miquel. Its construction dates from the 18th century and is of neoclassical style. You will also find restaurants where you can taste traditional dishes. We recommend the omelette with juice, the orelletes or the mixed pot.
